As a Zurich-based wedding and couple photographer who shoots across Europe, you always wish that couples would choose not-so popular locations, or the so called 'hidden gems in Mallorca'.
One of my favourite parts of my job is finding hidden spots that you won't find on those to-do lists for travelers, beautiful spots where my couples can enjoy the landscape and simultaneously feel relaxed in a private space.
This time, I was finally able to shoot in a secret spot close to Paguera and Santa Ponsa, where you get the most beautiful golden hour colours, a romantic sunset, and most importantly- privacy for the couple to really feel like themselves during their couples session.
Behind the Scenes
Mada connected with me through reddit, as she and her husband were on an anniversary trip in Mallorca. They were staying in a hotel located in a nearby town to me in Calvià, which was perfect as I had the chance to finally shoot in the secluded cliffs right next to Paguera.
Most couples looking to do a couples photosession in Mallorca choose locations in the northern part of Mallorca, such as Cap de Formentor and Pollenca- and who can blame them, the cliffs and infinite sunset are to die for.
However, the South West part of Mallorca has lots of beautiful hidden gems too, and it being the less popular area for photoshoots really provides you with more privacy and space to really get those intimate and cinematic moments.
The Location - Cliffs in Peguera,
Near Santa Ponsa
I always spend time scouting specifically for the right spot, and this time I settled on a hidden gem near Peguera. There is a natural area where I often go for a walk with my dog and here you get to see the most beautiful sunset colours.
It feels like you are in the middle of the forest and normally you don't meet anyone else!
I wouldn't say that this is a hidden location, but I guess most people dont realize its at a stones throw from Paguera and Santa Ponsa, and perfect for an intimate golden hour couples photoshoot.
Mada & Dragos wanted photos to commemorate their anniversary and their yearly summer vacation, this time while exploring the beautiful beaches and landscapes of Mallorca. We therefore met at 7:30 at the parking lot and started our mini-hike to reach the location. As the sun sets really late this time of the year, it was still super sunny and hot out there. Once we found the perfect spot overlooking Punta d’Andritxol, we stopped for a little water break and got ready. Then, we started with a few portraits of each one of them.
I love starting out with portraits as thats when the hair and makeup are flawless and its also a nice way to break the ice. I normally have the partner say something nice about the other half while I'm taking those photos so that we ease into a relaxed, no-pressure atmosphere. During this time I also try to incorporate little details and start conversations about their interests so that we can build a friendly rapport and work together with the common goal of getting photos that feel like themselves.
A relaxed Couples Photography Session
One of the things I loved most about this couples session with M&D, was how relaxed and chill they were. Both also work in the creative industry, so we had a fun chat about the future of digital design, architecture and the implications of AI. There is always something really lovely about working for fellow creatives who appreciate the art and what goes behind it. Dragos is currently starting Video services for events, so he also had a chance to capture a few videos of me working, which I really appreciated.
Some of my favourite photos of this session are the ones that incorporate the landscape and the silhouette of the couple. It was important for them to feel the location and colours through the images, which I think we achieved.
If you are interested in a couples session that reflects your personality, please reach out to me! Wether its an anniversary celebration, a travel couples mini session, or just because, I will be happy to create something beautiful alongside you.
A note on Mallorca
I spend several months of the year in Mallorca because my family lives there, and over the years it has genuinely become a second home for me.
I know the island well, including its light at different times of year, its less visited spots, and the particular magic it has during the summer months when the evenings stretch long and golden.
If you are planning a shoot in Mallorca and are looking for a photographer who knows the island intimately, I would really love to hear from you.

What makes your photography style different?

I use physical crystals, fabrics, and handmade light filters directly in front of the lens to create organic, shimmering effects that can't be replicated digitally. Every session is entirely handmade and unrepeatable.
